PCS can provide everything you need to run a successful photo operation, from software to turn-key installations. Below is an example of a recent installation.

The Barbie Dreamhouse Experience ® Mattel, EMS Exhibits

.

The Barbie Dreamhouse Experience ® is an attraction in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Located at Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest shopping mall complexes in the US, the attraction is a life-sized “house” featuring nearly 10,000 square feet of interactive activities, games, multimedia, and more.

Photo Install

The main challenge at this location was creating a photo concession that blended into the themed environment unobtrusively. The attraction demographic is primarily girls under 12 years of age. Because the attraction is full of interactive activities in which the children are encouraged to touch, special attention was needed in keeping equipment safe and out of reach as much as possible in tight, highly congested areas. Another challenge was the lack of power and data connectivity in areas with exhibit walls as high as 12 feet.

Guest Viewing And Photo Production

Interactive touch screen kiosk computers allow guests to quickly find and view their photos. Upon making a selection, staff instantly produces the desired prints. DNP dye-sub printers were installed to produce both 6 x 8 and 8 x 10 photo products.

Capture Stations

Windows touch tablet computers were used for capture locations due to their small size and ability to be mounted stationary within a wall cabinet. Wall cabinets were installed to safely store the equipment, with closable doors to hide the capture station when not in use. Cable channels were used to cleanly route cable to power and data resources above the exhibition walls. IR scanners were installed to associate barcode ID cards with each customer session.

The original idea was to utilize a green screen setup, however it was decided to stay with the visual theme and use a pink backdrop instead. A custom overlay was created to blend with the backdrop. Additional overlays can easily be created to offer more photo options to the customers. The second capture point is positioned at the “ring”, a 10-foot tall diamond ring near the entrance to the merchandising area and the photo viewing stations. Following this photo op, guests are directed immediately to the viewing area to purchase photos.

Amazingly Flexible Photo Kiosk

Through the power and flexibility of NPS, process attraction photos automatically and deliver them to an eye-catching touch-screen kiosk system for customer preview and purchase. Add an additional revenue source without adding additional staff! Our kiosk system works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Perfect for placement in all types of attractions, exhibits, resorts, hotels, and more. For our web portal subscribers, the same photo ID used for the kiosk can also be used to view and purchase photo products online.

How It Works

  1. Your photographer captures the photo and provides the customer with a barcoded photo ID card.
  2. Green screen keying and pre-defined templates are applied automatically.
  3. Edited photos are sent to the kiosk automatically and displayed in your choice of modes, including an interactive slideshow or a simple search box.
  4. Customers browse for images using the interactive touch-screen, or alternatively may scan a barcode to pull up their gallery instantly.
  5. If equipped with the optional dye-sublimation printer and thermal receipt printer, the customer may purchase and receive prints at the kiosk. Photos may also be emailed or uploaded to Facebook. The kiosk may also serve as an intermediary preview and selection station only, forwarding customer-chosen images to a central sales station for checkout and and printing.
